A 100-Year-Old Tradition of Sharing

It all began in Belgium with my great-grandmother, "Mamy," who was born on December 13th, 1926. For our family, this was never a secret; it was a tradition of generous sharing.

Her waffles were the smell of family. They were a must for the big New Year's Day gathering on January 1st. She'd bake them whenever her grandkids visited, storing them in old tin boxes that were always empty by the end of the day. She wasn't just baking a treat; she was creating memories.

A Legacy Lived, Not Just Remembered

This tradition was passed down as a quiet, living part of my childhood. After Mamy passed, my grandpa "Papou" and my mom continued the legacy.

I grew up with these same waffles for our own gatherings and for my friends when they came over. I also have so many clear memories of Papou. He was a wonderfully affectionate and generous man, and whenever he visited, he'd make waffles for the entire gathering. This is the taste of home I grew up with.

Our Commitment to Flavour

We’re proud to continue this tradition, and for us, that means choosing to do it the way Mamy did.

Back then, her kitchen was filled with real, simple ingredients. We believe in that, too.

That's why Brews's waffles are still handmade with simple, premium ingredients: real melted butter, select sifted flour, and the power of strong forearms. We still believe in slow, manual mixing. This is handmade in the truest sense of the word, which means every waffle is perfectly imperfect. They aren't cookie-cutter shapes; they're a real, authentic taste of Belgian tradition.

A Journey from Passion to Business

Brews first began as an idea with a friend when I was just 16, originally meant to be an acronym for a completely different business. But the passion for Belgian waffles was undeniable. The idea slowly took shape, and by 17, I was selling freshly baked treats to friends and family.

For a long time, BREWS was a side-hustle, a project I worked on between breaks. But at 18, I decided to take the next step, selling to local resellers like Mia Acai and Spar. This journey has had its ups and downs, but my commitment has never wavered. Today, at 20, I am proud to have built this business to a point where I can bring our family's heritage directly to you through our online store launched on November 4, 2025.

Welcome To The Family

This isn't just a "story" to me. It's my family's, and I'm proud to share it with you.

When you choose a Brews waffle, you're getting a piece of that heritage—a story of simple beginnings, love, and a legacy baked into every treat. We are proud to bring a taste of Brussels to you in Ballito, South Africa.

So, from my family to yours—welcome.
